What is performance anxiety?
Simply put, performance anxiety is the fear one feels before they are about to perform. It is not a condition like the flu and is not something that you can catch from another person.
You don't need to feel bad if you get jittery, ill or nervous before your perform. Here are some students reflections on their own performance anxiety. Maybe you can relate to some of their problems:
Before a performance:
"I feel nervous but happy before I perform but before I perform I go to the bathroom a lot."
" I get butterflies in my tummy, and I get nervous."
"I would feel very sick and nervous and stupid then I would go to the bathroom.
How can I tell if I suffer from performance anxiety?
